Thursday night saw the Matter&Co team out in full force at the annual NatWest SE100 Awards, celebrating social enterprises doing amazing work. We've had the pleasure of organising the Awards together with NatWest, as well as putting together the branding and winners' films, but seeing it all come alive in front of the audience on the night was a treat for all of us.
There was a great atmosphere in the room and we truly enjoyed seeing old and new faces showing such passion for social enterprise. On a night of celebration, we were immensely impressed by all the shortlisted organisations, chosen from almost 1,500 social ventures on the NatWest SE100 Index - which tracks the progress and impact of social enterprises across the UK.
The seven selected winners demonstated best business practice within the social sector, working to address some of the UK's most important social issues including homelessness, independent living and environmental protection. The full list of winners is as follows:
Growth Champion: Let's Do Business
Impact Champion: Manor House Development Trust
Trailblazing Newcomer: Change Please
Resilience Award: Hertfordshire Independent Living Service
Leadership Award: Karen Lynch, Belu Water
Hall of Fame Award: Furniture Resource Centre
Another highlight from this year's competition has been working with our partners Eddie Finch at Buzzacott and Ben Carpenter at Social Value UK to select the winners, and we were thrilled they could join us at the Awards to present some of the winners. We were also very grateful to be joined by speakers Simon Jacobs, CAO Commercial & Private Banking at RBS and Chair of NatWest Social & Community Capital, Rushanara Ali, MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, Colleen Ebbitt, Senior Policy Advisor in the government's Inclusive Economy Unit, Elaine Lilley, CEO at The EDP, and David Dinnage, Interim Senior Director, Big Society Capital.
We had a brilliant time and are already looking forward to next year's Awards!
