Matter&Co is delighted to be supporting the Social Business Investment Group, helping celebrate and publicise their landmark ten years of social investing.
Over the last decade, social investment has grown from an embryonic concept to a major mainstream investment sector.
Since 2002, the Social Business Investment Group has made over 1,300 investments of both loans and grants, amounting to more than £311m to 1,037 organisations, focusing on community enterprise, health and social care, education and learning, children and young people.
Calling 2012 a “watershed year for social investment”, the Social Business Investment Group CEO Jonathan Jenkins said: “Ten years ago social enterprises and charities were generally considered untouchable by banks and private investors. Today, after ten years of investing we’ve shown that they can appeal to a wide range of investors, delivering social as well as financial returns.”
